Digital technologies are transforming the way we collect, share, and interpret data to support decision-making in agroforestry. They offer new possibilities for reaching target audiences, improving communication, and strengthening collaboration across disciplines.

During the early stages of the DigitAF consortium, the idea emerged to create a comprehensive catalogue of agroforestry-related tools and datasets. This initiative seeks to answer key questions:

– Which components of agroforestry systems remain least explored in digital tools?

– Which indicators are analysed most frequently, and where do knowledge gaps persist?

– How can different tools and datasets work together to generate more integrated and meaningful insights?

The result is the Online Agroforestry Tools, Data and Projects Catalogue, a centralised platform that gathers agroforestry tools and datasets in one accessible space. Users can easily search and filter resources based on various criteria, ensuring that information can be found quickly according to specific needs.

Each entry includes a FAIRness score, providing a quick overview of the resource’s Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability. This helps users assess the openness and usability of data and tools at a glance.

As a contributor to this initiative, MVARC played a key role in designing and developing the catalogue’s structure, ensuring that it not only meets the technical requirements of the project but also supports long-term scalability and ease of use. By contributing to the development of this platform, MVARC supports a shared vision of advancing open science, fostering innovation, and empowering the agroforestry community with accessible, high-quality digital resources.
